Those nights between you and me, were they just a dream?
Perhaps my imagination deceived me into believing that their carefully packaged moments were in fact realities. There have been times in the past when I gave in to my delusions. I have never been the sanest person around. I weave fantasies and dreams until I get lost in them, until they become my life. Were you a figment of my imagination too?
Yet, I distinctly remember the ticklish warmth of your breath on my neck. I still feel the anticipation captured in that fraction of time right before your lips touched mine. The long nights tangled in blankets and limbs and cool mornings of hushed conversations. Memories of our existence run through my mind like pages of a beautifully written novel – one I never wished to end.
Maybe those nights we shared weren’t mere delusions after all. Maybe, at one point, we did in fact give in to the urge to abandon our controlled selves and succumb to the forces that drew us together. Except now we have regained our control. We are once again cool to the touch and too distant to reach. The gates are sealed shut to outside forces, not to be opened until another rare night comes to tempt us.
I wouldn’t call it love – we never got to that. Yet during those nights, at least, we were honest.

Hey looking fashionable in these pics and I really relate to the prose here. Sometimes it’s being able to be honest with who you are with someone that forges a bond and even though it’s not love it’s the foundation for it, so when we can’t proceed forward to that stage it still feels like a loss because that bond that allows us to fall in love is as important as the love itself 🙂

Very well said! ❤ I don't remember what prompted me to write this, but now that I read it again, it feels painful. 😦 It's like the one that got away. 😦
