When I was growing up, Sponge Bob Square Pants was definitely one of my favorite shows. I remember my brothers and I would watch it every afternoon after school. We love Sponge Bob for his quirky laugh, weird humor, and naive stupidity that actually works out in the end.
(Above: SM VP and other license holders of our favorite cartoons come together to bring about SM Cartoon Fest. Oh, and look who dropped by – Cookie Monster!)
That’s why when I was told that Sponge Bob was dropping by SM North EDSA, I just had to go! Finally, I was going to have the opportunity to meet Sponge Bob and Patrick Star! All thanks to SM Cartoon Fest – a summer – long festival that brings together our favorite cartoon characters from Nickelodeon to Barbie, DC, Sesame Street, and many more! All SM Malls will have their own cartoon installations this summer but at SM North EDSA, Sponge Bob Square Pants is the star!
Starting this April until the end of May, you can drop by SM North EDSA and see Bikini Bottom for yourself.
You can drop by Squidward’s house – although who wants to, really? Few people like the grumpy Squidward!
You can also visit Sponge Bob’s famous pineapple house and say hello to Gary inside. 🙂

And of course, a trip to Bikini Bottom won’t be complete without dropping by the world – famous Krusty Krab and trying out some Krabby Patty!
Aside from these, there are also other activities in store especially for the kids. For example, you can go inside the maze and try to find your way out.

There will also be face painting sessions on April 28, May 4, 11, 18, 19, 25, and 26 from 3 PM to 5PM at The Block Atrium.
Also, with every P500 purchase of any Sponge Bob merchandise at SM Department Store, you can meet and greet Sponge Bob and Patrick Star. This will happen on April 20 & 27, May 8, 9, 18, 25, & 31 still The Block Atrium.
I personally was able to attend a meet and greet! There was a song and dance number with Sponge Bob and Patrick! It was so much fun! Truly, it was one of my best days ever!
Here I am with my friends Rhea and Carizza wearing our captain’s hats while watching the show! And below, you will see my nautical – inspired outfit (or my best effort at it!). Hahaha… 😀
Ugh, and I don’t know why I posed in front of Squidward’s house. It’s the most depressing thing ever! hahahaha :))
So if you guys have nothing to do this summer, make sure to drop by SM North EDSA, The Block Atrium, and dive into the colorful of world of Bikini Bottom. Actually, you can see hints of Bikini Bottom even when you’re outside the mall because you definitely can’t miss Patrick and Sponge Bob sunbathing! 🙂
See you all there! 🙂
