Going Back to Ridge Cafe

Timberland Heights, just a mere 30 minutes away from where we live in Quezon City, is one of my favorite destinations relatively close to the Metro. When things get stressful and tough, it’s nice to go high up in the mountains to breathe and allow yourself escape from the confining walls of the city.

If you’ve never heard of Timberland Heights, I suggest you read my previous post about it here. It’s a truly beautiful place in the mountains of San Mateo, Rizal with several amenities like a hotel, an infinity pool, hiking/biking trails, etc.

Ridge Cafe is the Timberland Height’s main restaurant. It used to serve themed buffets for dinner but recently, the buffet was limited to lunch time on weekends. It was such a disappointment when we went there to have dinner to celebrate my cousin’s graduation only to find that the buffet was only served at lunch. Anyway, we decided to just have individual orders from the menu.

For salad, we got their chicken and shrimp and apple and walnut salads.

The first salad came with a mayo dressing that I didn’t quite like. The second one – apple and walnut – was much better because it was drizzled with balsamic vinegar. It also had pieces of roasted chicken in it so it was a complete meal by itself. Perfect for those who are dieting.

For starters, we got two platters of sushi. The selection was all right but the rice wasn’t Japanese sticky rice. It crumbled when I tried to eat it with chopsticks. Frustrating! πŸ™‚

Chicken and chips were also served. One can never go wrong with fried chicken and french fries.

Sad looking tempura. The prawns were big enough but I guess I’m just not a fan of tempura with so much batter.

For dessert, my aunts and cousins got mango crepe and halo-halo. We were surprised when the crepe arrived. It was nothing like any crepe we’ve seen before. It looks more like leche flan or melted brazo de mercedes, don’t you think?

The halo-halo, on the other hand, was delicious in its simplicity.

Although generally, the food in their menu was ho-hum, I’d still want to go back because Timberland Heights has a splendid view of the city and the surroundings. Literally, you’ll feel like you’re on top of the world. You can also take a dip in the infinity pool before or after your meal. Night swimming is so much fun.

There’s no signal up there for Globe too so you can really feel separation from the rest of the world – a welcome respite after a busy work week. πŸ™‚

  2. We love Timberland Heights! It’s not overcrowded, the buffet is pretty good, and the facilities are nice! Food is generally kind of pricey though but then it’s to be expected from a country club. I’ve actually tried some of the dishes above. πŸ™‚

  3. The food looks so good! πŸ˜€ Though I agree, the crepe doesn’t look like crepe. Anyway, I’d love to visit Timberland Heights given the chance. Sometimes I crave to just get out of it all and be isolated for a while.
