Sunday Brunch at Manang’s Chicken

Manang’s Chicken has been something I’ve been craving for last week ever since my delivery plans has been thwarted since I had to pay PHP100 to get them to deliver to my area. So happy that last Sunday, my fellow Ateneans USA scholars and I decided to take our brunch at Manang’s Katipunan after attending mass at the Ateneo.

Why was I craving for Manang’s Chicken? Well, I’ve loved it since my friend Jaye introduced it to me when we went to Mercato Centrale. It’s double fried chicken that actually lives up to the hype because it’s actually really good right down to the bone. The sesame sauce that it comes it adds that extra oomph making an ordinary double fried chicken into something special. The prices for me are very affordable as well. You can definitely feed 5 people (and feed them well at that) with only PHP1000.

For our meal, we had the 6-piece ultimate barkada set, which includes chips, 6 pieces of chicken, coleslaw, and drinks. We also ordered fried pancit for each of us and sundae for dessert.

Their chips are made from real potatoes, fried to perfection! (Don’t I just sound like an advert? Haha) You may also order your choice of dips to go with these.

The huge serving of solo fried pancit was great too! It was my first time to try something like it and I was surprised that I actually liked it since I’m not a pancit person. I thought it was going to be crunchy but the consistency of the pancit becomes normal after you mix wit with the sauce. πŸ™‚

The sundae I was not a fan of although it looks quite cheery, doesn’t it? I found it a tad too sweet for my taste, but I found it a good thing that you can choose your own topping among sprinkles, chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, or a mix of these.

I’ve saved the best for last. This is the chicken I’ve been craving for! Perfectly crispy skin, juicy meat, and the best part – rolled in really delicious sesame sauce. Ah, I can feel my mouth water!

If you haven’t tried this yet, then you better or you’re missing out! πŸ™‚

Manang’s Chicken is quickly expanding they now have several branches in different locations in Metro Manila, including Makati, Ortigas, Taguig, and Quezon City.
