“Crispy pata,” kept repeating in my mind while I was in Naga for the Advertising Congress last week. Unsurprisingly so because that’s what my friend Joey drilled into it before we left Manila. She kept raving about the Crispy Pata (deep-fried pork thighs) at Bob Marlin so we all decided to make time to go there.
The name is obviously a play on the name of famous reggae singer, Bob Marley. Hence why the interiors were decorated accordingly. Even the waiters wore striped aprons in iconic yellow, red, and green. This potent signature drink too, Rasta Paling (PHP89), is in line with the entire theme.
For our main meal, we had grilled Blue Marlin with gravy, MTB or Manok, Talong, Baboy (Chicken, Aubergine, Pork), and lastly, a huge hulking plate of Crispy Pata. And after eating a whole lot of crispy pata, I was on a foodie high. Who wouldn’t be after biting into succulent pork flesh and munching on the perfectly crispy skin? It was a feast worthy of a reggae King! 🙂
Next time I’m in Naga, crispy pata will no doubt be in repeating in my mind again. Actually, I’m craving for it while I’m writing this. See you soon, you delicious leg of pork!
