Cherry Bomb Inspired Look (Dakota Fanning in The Runaways)

Yesterday, I watched The Runaways, a film based on the true story of a 70s all-girl rock band of the same name who skyrocketed to fame at a time when the rock scene was dominated by men. It starred a 16-year old Dakota Fanning, who played Cherie Currie (the band’s lead singer) and Kristen Stewart as Joan Jett, the electric guitar player who had a true passion for rock music.

I was so inspired by the fashion and makeup in the film that right after, I decided to try to recreate some of my favorite looks. In particular, I loved how over the top Dakota’s looks usually – from the dark eyes and high blush to the glossy red lips. She had a grungy yet vintage vibe about her.

Of course, Dakota had different looks throughout the film. Hence why the look I did is more of a combination of the different things I liked about her makeup. It’s not intended to be exactly the same. It’s just me expressing my inner rock chick as well. πŸ™‚Would I pass for a rock chick now? Perhaps I should ask heavy metal boy, Tom. πŸ™‚

Seriously, if you haven’t yet, do watch the film! It’s sexy, inspiring, intense, fun, yet sad at the same time.

Then perhaps, just like me, you’d also be excited by the makeup and fashion in the film! πŸ™‚

  1. I love your eye makeup here ♥ I never thought Dakota Fanning would ever sport this look. Definitely not used to it hahaha. But she does look great! I think the way her faced is contoured is perfectly fine. πŸ™‚

    1. Yep! Back in the 70s they put their blusher quite high on the cheeks and I love how it’s bright and not blended. If you wear it now though people will look at you funny. Hahahaha πŸ˜€ Thanks, Clair!

      1. Lol. I think it depends on the person’s image and the event. If you’re going to a 70s themed event, it would be perfectly fine πŸ˜‰ Or kung edgy type ka talaga, go lang! Hahaha XD I think you could pull it off πŸ˜‰
