The past few weeks have been a bit stressful and I have a feeling that this one’s not going to be easy as well. Anxious, I find myself craving for chocolate again. Since I have none on hand at the moment, I shall channel my energies into writing a food post instead. This is what psychologists call sublimation. ๐
Today, I invite everyone to try eating at Recipes, if you haven’t yet. I went to their Trinoma branch last, last Saturday with my friends and had a jolly good and comforting meal at a very affordable price. That made me happy.
This week, god knows I need all the happiness I can get!
We started the meal with chicharong bulaklak, which is basically crispy, deep-fried pork intestines. This may not sound very appetizing to some, especially the health-conscious, but gosh I love this dish! When I was a kid, our school canteen sold this wrapped inside gray paper cones and this was my recess snack. Brings back good memories since I haven’t had it for the longest time.
Then we had this curious dish called gising-gising. That was the first time I’ve ever heard of this but apparently, it’s made from beans and meat cooked with coconut milk. It’s surprisingly good! This is a must-try!
For our main course, we had General’s Chicken (above) and Lechon Kawali (below). I prefered the chicken over the pork. It’s more flavorful and interesting.
And that’s our meal right there. By the end of it, we were too full for dessert. ๐ The food and the place are nothing fancy but the meal truly invokes the feeling of comfort as each bite reminds me home and my mum’s cooking.
Over-all, a good place to go for fuss-free yet delicious food!

The food looks delicious! Yum

Yum! I like gising-gising. Now your post makes me want to go back to Recipes. So many places I want to go back to and eat yummy food. Argh~
I like Recipes because their dishes are affordable, tasty and filling. ๐ I’ve always thought that places in Greenbelt 3 are always expensive. Recipes is one of the more affordable ones especially if you’re in a group.
