Hoarding Candies Outside the Universal Studios

The most tourist-y thing I did while I was at Singapore was going sightseeing at the man-made island of Sentosa. There, various attractions and establishments exist to lure unwitting tourists to part with their money. Not that I minded. Business, after all, is business. πŸ˜‰

So allow me to share with you my tourist-y photos in this post. Even though my aunt called me a bad tourist because it was a struggle to get me to pose in front of buildings, monuments, and what-not, in the end, I’m quite grateful that she was a persistent photographer. If she wasn’t, I wouldn’t have anything to blog about. πŸ™‚Wasn’t able to get near the real merlion so this colorful one would have to do. (And yes, Tom, you’ll once again say that I look tiny but do consider that I’m in the foreground).

Outside the Universal Studios. It was terribly hot when we visited so I’m very glad I had some sunblock on. This is also why I look like I’m modeling water in most of my photos. Then again, maybe I was pretending I’ve won an academy award.

Inside the Hollywood-themed complex, we found a lot of picturesque building and monuments like the one above.

Actually, the monument is part of a fountain. Hooray! Ok, there was a tinge of sarcasm there but really, I wanted to kick my heels off and dance around the pool like the woman in Under the Tuscan Sun. It was THAT hot!

Pretty building…

A rendition of Atlas carrying the world on his shoulders. Not a very good angle as it seems like I’m looking up his “skirt” but then again, I’m not to be blamed. He was tall AND on top of a pedestal. He was asking for it.

The King of the Gods, of course, also has to be present with some words of wisdom for us mere mortals.

Ahhh, a sci-fi section…

…with a mean-looking rollercoaster in it! I did not even attempt to ride it as I would have been puking my guts out even before it has started zooming along.

Let’s stick to friendlier things like a pub! Chug, chug, chug!

Or… Woody the Woodpecker who insisted on taking my hands and holding them up. Awkward. πŸ™‚

I better stick to the smaller versions of him.

Now we’ve come to my favorite part of the trip. Hoarding candies at Candylicious!

Posing beneath the candy tree is such a treat! πŸ˜‰ (I know, lame pun!)

Lining up at the Candylicious cashier. What’s not in the photo? My candy-filled shopping basket! πŸ™‚

Hey, Hershey’s! I love you a lot!

And… that’s the end of it! I have tons of other photos but I guess those are to be dumped on Facebook.

Enjoy your Saturdays, everyone! xxx

  1. there’s nothing wrong with being tourist-ty!!!
it becomes different if you focus more on taking of yourself most of the time rather than enjoying the location you’re in…
That’s a common sickness that travelers have nowadays,
everyone has camera’s and ipod and portable players..
they tend to forget why they’re are travelling in the first place.
    Nice pictures you have here.
You should thank your aunts persistence!

    1. I have indeed thanked her for her persistence! πŸ™‚ If she didnt bug me about it, I wouldnt have fotos of my trip. Hahaha Yeah, for me, I dont like taking too many photos of myself. I just want photos of the place. πŸ™‚
